Due to the Corona crisis travelling around the world is still difficult to impossible. Some companies continue to not allow certain business trips and on the other side some companies do not allow visitors from abroad.

​In this challenging environment it is not easy for the Quality Assurance functions to comply with one critical compliance routine; the obligation to conduct on-site vendor audits in line with their supplier qualification programs to ensure quality & GMP compliance in the manufacturing facilities, quality control labs and warehouses of their API suppliers. Typically, these audits need to take place every 2 – 3 years.

Transo-Pharm hosted their first remote / virtual audit in October this year for one US customer. In order to be prepared for such a digital event, Transo-Pharm invested in the enabling technology such as a digital whiteboard combined with a webcam and videoconferencing-Software. Finally, the personal needed to be trained.
 
All in all the first audit of this kind was a great success and both parties were happy with the outcome (including the IT performance). It can be definitely considered as a valid alternative to an on-site audit.
